Photography, perhaps not about preserving what is meant to last, but is about finding what had never meant to be preserved.
An era is ephmeral. Buildings are replaced, faces disappear, gestures are forgotten, and ordinary places become unfamiliar. Yet for a brief moment, a torrent of light will fall on something that would otherwise pass unseen.
I press the shutter not to make the ordinary extraordinary. But to let it stay.
For what disappears from the frame may eventually disappear from memory.
